01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Carved with delicate diamond scoring like a prepared mango cheek, the mango-cut fatty tuna is an eye-catching signature that commands attention the moment it hits the counter. The technique highlights the sweet fat and tender texture of quality toro, with variations including salmon and soy-marinated lean bluefin tuna. The menu also offers playful nigiri available from single pieces, such as seared engawa flaked until its rich oils practically melt on the tongue, and unwrapped ikura battleship sushi served with crisp nori draped alongside rather than wrapped around the rice.

Drink-Friendly Ate-maki and Seafood Small Plates

Beyond nigiri, the kitchen turns out an enticing roster of ate-maki—slender sushi rolls composed specifically as drinking snacks. Combinations range from rich horse mackerel paired with spicy mentaiko, to sea bream lifted by the citrus-chili kick of yuzukosho, to double-layered lean tuna rolls packed with deep red meat. Complementing the sushi are varied izakaya plates, including avocado salmon yukhoe, rich crab tomalley sizzled in browned butter, and crispy fried squid tentacles, making it easy to graze across diverse flavors over drinks.

Specialty Tea Cocktails and Late-Night Comfort

The drink menu highlights an array of tea-infused chawari cocktails designed to complement fresh seafood, featuring concentrated matcha highballs alongside Masudaen green tea and Japanese black tea pairings. Fresh fruit sours, draft Shibu Nama craft beer, and direct-from-keg draft sake taps round out the offerings. Tucked beneath the elevated tracks along Route 246 at Shibuya Stream, the space features counter and table seating with the relaxed, approachable feel of a modern cafe. Operating until 2:00 on weekdays, it caters equally well to a quick post-work drink or an unhurried late-night gathering.
